Winifred Fortescue's 'Elfin Oak' at The Domaine Lady Fortescue's own 'Elfin Oak' In the opening chapters of 'Perfume from Provence', Winifred describes the arrival and unpacking of their belongings at 'The Domaine'. Amongst them was her very own miniature 'Elfin Oak' and it brought the proceedings to a standstill as the Provencal workmen stopped and admired its beauty. It was made for Winifred by Ivor Innes, who made the 'Elfin Oak', and to this day hangs in the porch of 'The Domaine' where she placed it. |
